It’s not a surprise that Route Verte is National Geographic’s #1 bikeway. It is cycling nirvana. This system of 5,000 km of interconnected, well-marked routes is throughout beautiful Quebec. Our Quebec adventure will explore the southern reaches of the province. In addition to cycling heaven, on the Quebec Cycling Tour we will experience French culture in the heart of North America. As we roll through 17th century villages hugging the shore of the mighty river systems, local Quebecois greet us with open arms. Above all, it’s the biking, whether alongside the river, past a graceful church spire or over the myriad of bike paths, that you will love on this bike trip.
Day 1, we will start the adventure with a tour of the wondrous Lake Champlain, Day 2, we’re quickly off to magical Montreal where we may be able to find a French dinner. Day 3 brings us into close contact with the famous St Lawrence River as we make our way to Quebec City. Day 4, our layover day, in Quebec City will allow us to explore this marvelous city.
Day 5, after crossing the St. Lawrence, we’ll head inland to Victoriaville, the capital of the Bois-Francs region and off the beaten path. Southern Quebec is the embodiment of the spirit of the Route Verte and cycling enjoyment. Day 6, we’re off to Sherbrooke at the confluence of Magog and Saint-Francois Rivers. Sherbrooke is a college town with eight campuses; maybe we can audit a class.
Day 7 ends in the Sutton, with the largest community of artists in Canada, and our last night in Quebec.
On Day 8, it’s onto Burlington, VT. This is our last stop where our foray into magical Quebec where the Quebec Cycling Tour concludes.
